Director/Playwright/Educator

I am an Obie-winning theater artist who devises with artists across disciplines on new plays and performance events as writer, director or performer. As the Co-Artistic Director of PearlDamour, a company I share with playwright Lisa D’Amour, I have pushed the boundaries of conventional theater and civic conversation for over 25 years with projects that range from large-scale spectacle to intimate encounter to community-wide collaborations.

My producing work includes Michelle Memran’s documentary The Rest I Make Up, about playwright María Irene Fornés, ranked one of the best films of 2018 by the New Yorker. I was named as a finalist for the Herb Alpert Award in the Arts and the Zelda Fichandler Award, and am the recipient of four Map Fund, two NEA, and a Creative Capital Award. I am a Drama League Alum and a member of SDC.

I am an Associate Professor of Theater at Wesleyan University, where I teach directing, devising, alternative theater-making practices, and direct department productions.
